We would have been born with a chimney....People are still smoking in the entrance to the HRI and it would appear that some people are determined to carry on even after this has been banned. When people smoke at the HRI entrance, due to the design of the building, the smoke is drawn into the main body of the building. Those on reception and security get the first wave and the corridors leading to the wards get whats left. If they want a cigarette that badly then they will have to go completely off site and if they are patients and well enough to go for a cigarette in the first place, perhaps their stay should be reviewed. When will the message get through that smoking kills? There is a saying that If we were meant to smoke we would have been born with a chimney but with some people it would seem that the void where the chimney should be is empty of grey matter as well if they are ignoring the medical evidence. If people are so determined to risk lung and heart damage then fine, but not near me or mine, if you want to shorten your life thats fine too but there are cheaper and quicker ways to die that can be employed. The sooner the habit dies out (no pun intended) the better. |
