Employers complain about the literacy skills of job applicants

More ‘text speak’ has crept into everyday usage.

It has even crept into exams now where the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) said the use of phrases like "2b r nt 2b" or "i luv u" in exam papers would be allowed as long as candidates showed they understood the subject.

There is no wonder that employers complain about the literacy skills of job applicants!

Abbreviated text should be confined to mobile phones and Morse code use and should never be used for the written word.
