Given them smaller ones............A sign of things to come? In a bid by a local authority to force families to recycle more, officials in Tamworth, Sheffield, have removed hundreds of normal-sized wheelie bins after carrying out spot checks to catch 'offenders' and given them smaller ones. They have been penalised for not using their special blue recycling boxes. Tamworth's environment chief John Garner said: "Our smaller bin project is about finding ways of encouraging greater levels of household recycling. Our recycling wardens are monitoring weekly recycling collections to identify households where the blue boxes are not being used." Recycle wardens no less, more council jobsworths to pay for out of the council tax! |
