Travellers should have a site provided for them in Kirklees says President of the Gypsy Council Hughie Smith.What are you prepared to pay towards construction, maintenance, sanitation, refuse collection etc Mr Smith? The reason why people in Kirklees are reluctant to have travellers is because of the damage they do when they enter sites to commit trespass and leave them filthy with rubbish and human waste when they are evicted. The former Tradex site in particular even had to have the bushes hosed down to get rid of human excreta. As the people who live in Kirklees have to pay council tax for services, why should ‘travellers’ get services given for nothing and pay nothing for the upkeep of these? When sites are left in such filthy conditions of course you are not wanted in Kirklees or anywhere else until you pay your fair share, clean up after yourselves and do not expect others to subsidise your lifestyle. |
