Are we being conned about recycling?

With councils saying how we should recycle more and will fine us if we don’t or even put microchips in our bins, how then will they answer the charges that we are exporting millions of tons of household waste to China where it is causing an environmental catastrophe? 

 We are bullied to recycle to avoid huge amounts going to landfill but are creating just the same on another continent and endangering the lives of millions of people with the chemicals used and run-off created to treat plastic in particular.

You carefully separate your items for recycling as ordered and what happens – it is all thrown together in a ships hold and sent to the other side of the world, what a waste of time.

ost of Britain's waste plastic ends up in the Far East because of the decline in the UK manufacturing industry and the fact that British companies who make plastic products do not have the facilities to process recycled material - they prefer 'virgin' plastic'. Perhaps it is time then that they obtain these 'facilities' and do their bit for the environment.
