Early release of high profile prisoner

The release of "Prince" Naseem Hamed after serving only 16 weeks of his already paltry 15-month sentence for dangerous driving is a clear indicator that the judicial system in this country is badly flawed.

When he drove his £320,000 Mercedes McLaren into Mr & Mrs Burgin’s car at 90 miles per hour in May last year, Mr Burgin suffered fractures to every major bone in his body. Hamed then fled the scene as he feared an ‘ugly incident’ might occur if he stayed.

In view of the serious nature of the injuries and how they were caused, Hamed should have been jailed for far longer than the original sentence.  Far from being a ‘Prince’ this gentleman has shown his true self by his statement today on his release “at least no one died”.

I just hope that no boxing promoter who has the slightest integrity will want to deal with this disgraced boxer and the next fight he has will be in court if Mr Burgin sues for compensation.
