Gypsy site to go ahead?

I read the article regarding the planning application for a gypsy site with some interest. It was only a few days ago that I walked down to the site of what was the Heritage Farm and noticed that new electrical cables were being laid. If this is to be a ‘holding depot’ as KMC say what is it for and why place it in this particular location and has it any connection with the proposed site?

It would appear from the tone of the conversation with Kirklees Council that after years of opposition to a permanent gypsy site, they are going to roll over and let this take place. I have no doubt that pressure will have been brought to bear from the liberal thinking lobby that live behind high walls, locked gates and surrounded by insecurity lights.

The comment about the site being a cheaper option than moving them from council land as in the past is another indicator that the plans could well be passed but does KMC really believe that providing a site will stop the ‘travellers’ from setting up camp where and when they like?

If the plans are passed, we should all be asking KMC what the residents are contributing towards the services they are receiving from the council and trust that this will be in line with what other residents of Kirklees have to pay.
